Ambassador of France to China, Laurent Bili, visits the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai

  


    On December 10th, a delegation led by Ambassador of France to China visited the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai. The delegation members included Mr. Laurent Bili (Ambassador of France to China), Mr. Benoit Guidée (Consul General of France in Shanghai), Mr. Gaétan Messin and Mrs. Sarah Maesan (Scientific Advisors Deputy from the Consulate General of France in Shanghai). Mr. Xiaofeng Lu (Senior Manager of European Office on behalf of Bureau of International Cooperation Chinese Academy of Sciences), Mrs. Hong Huang (Director of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (Shanghai Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs)) attended and gave short talks. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Hong Tang (Director General of IPS), and Prof. Fernando Arenzana (Scientific Advisory Director of IPS), Mr. Shengli Si (Secretary of the CPC of IPS), Mr. Fengwei Chen (Secretary General and Discipline of IPS). Research representatives, the heads of the departments as well as students also attended the meeting.
 

  Prof. Hong Tang expressed his warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced IPS' history, organizational structure, international research team, and educational exchanges of the institute. Fernando Arenzana gave a detailed overview of the institute’s international and educational projects such as the China-Africa Rainbow Project, the Fengxian New Park, the Pasteurian College in Suzhou and the Center for Microbes, Development and Health. Prof. Philippe Sansonetti gave a brief speech by video to introduce the challenges and aims of the newly created Center for Microbes, Development and Health. Xiaofeng Lu and Hong Huang acknowledged IPS' active efforts and achievement in international exchange cooperation and talent service respectively, and guaranteed that efforts were made to facilitate the relocation of foreign experts in China. Ambassador Laurent Bili expressed his support towards IPS, as a model of Sino-French science and technology cooperation, and hope it will achieve its challenge's goals.  

  The delegation then visited the laboratories of professors Dimitri Lavillette and Parag Kundu, and learned about the research progress of the institute through in-depth exchanges with many researchers and students.
